Thomas Kivi is a Minneapolis based, thinking-man's songwriter. He began writing songs as a senior history and philosophy student at UW-Madison in '07-'08. After moving to Minneapolis in the fall of 2008, his new-found knack for song writing was picked up early by Twin Cities music journalist Jim Walsh in November of 08,' hailing Kivi's "as-yet unrecorded 'Freedom Dues'" as  "a heartfelt mélange of complicated images and emotions that seeks to define the times, and succeeds. No mean feat."

Kivi gained experience and momentum through the year of 2009, becoming a mainstay at the weekly songwriter's showcase at Plums in St Paul, while performing solo at venues like Acadia Cafe, the 400 Bar, the Downtime, the Kitty Cat Klub.  With the support and talent of newfound friends, Kivi debuted a full-band at the Fine Line that summer, complimenting words with sounds of  violin, cellos, bass, accordion, piano, guitars, drums, and supporting vocals.

Entering 2010, Thomas Kivi is in the process of recording his first fully produced album.  His rawly intimate demo which has circulated for a year has been mastered and will be officially released under the title "Introduction" before winter's end.
